Why do you get your puppies at 9 or 10 weeks old?

State Law

By Maine State Law pet stores and breeders we cannot sell puppies less than 8 weeks old.

Not Fully Weaned

Many times puppies less than 9 weeks old are not fully weaned from their mothers which means they would be deprived of essential nutrients that only mothers' milk can  provide.  This is especially true for smaller breeds.

More Inoculations=Stronger

We like them to have more inoculations before they are sold so that they are less able to get certain diseases. With more inoculations they are stronger. For this reason we get the smallest breeds at 10 weeks.
