What is microchipping?
Microchipping is when a microchip (about the size of a grain of rice) is injected under the skin of a dog. When the microchip is scanned by a microchip reader a number will appear. With this number the dog owners' contact information can be obtained. Most vets and shelters will automatically scan a dog that arrives without any papers or medical history just in case they have a microchip. This is done because often times dogs are lost or even stolen and if they have a microchip, the real owner can be contacted.
